BUDDHIST STORY OF WISDOM | How to Clean Your Empty Mind
Friends, if our mind is empty then we can add some such thing in it, we can add some such thoughts by which we can calm the chatter in our mind. We can stop the flood of thoughts that keeps going on in our mind very well and Friends, once the chatter in the mind stops, then we can make the mind do whatever we want, that is why if you want to calm the chatter in the mind, then definitely listen to this story till the end.
There
is a story of a city, there lived a young man in the city, his name was Chang,
he had a problem and his problem was that his mind kept wandering all the time,
some negative thoughts kept running in his mind all the time. The chatter never
stopped. Whenever he thought about something, he did something different.
Sometimes, thinking about his past, he used to regret that I wish I had not
made him do something like this to his work and time.
He would have done the work as it was or he
would have kept thinking about his future and would have been afraid of what
would happen if something like this happened in the future, what if I failed,
what if I made a mistake, people would start making fun of me. Will do it and
many such negative and failure filled thoughts keep coming in his mind.
Chang
was always lost in his thoughts. He wanted to get rid of his thoughts. Chang
wanted to ensure that no useless thoughts ever enter his mind, but all the time
a flood of thoughts kept rising in his mind, that is why he was very troubled
in life. Then one day someone told him that there is a Buddhist monk living in
the nearby forest, go to him and he will definitely solve your mental problem.
Hearing this, Chang immediately goes to the Buddhist monk and tells him all his problems. The Buddhist monk also listens to his words very attentively and asks him, "What do you want to know from me?" Hearing this, Chang says, "Master." I want to make my mind calm and empty. I want to know from you how to make my mind empty and calm. My mind is full of thoughts all the time. I don't know how to concentrate at one place due to which there is problem in every part of my life. It happens that if I do one thing, then due to negative thoughts I move to another thing. My mind does not stay at one place and every day thousands of thoughts keep going on in my mind and when does this happen, why does something happen to me? Can't find out.
After
a long time, I realize what I was sitting to do and what I am doing. Master, I
want to make my mind empty of thoughts. I want that not a single thought should
come in my mind only when I want. Thoughts came, then the Buddhist monk said
that the solution to any problem can be found only when we reach the root of
the problem, understand and know the problem properly. Further, the Buddhist
monk said, the mind whom you want to empty, have you created that mind? Hearing
this, Chang said, Master, I have tried a lot to know my mind, but the more I
know about him, the more mysterious my mind becomes. Then the Buddhist monk at
that very moment said, While giving the pitcher, he said, go and fill this
pitcher with small stones. Then the young man went from there and brought back
after filling small stones and kept the pitcher with the Buddhist monk. Then
the Buddhist monk said to that time, Consider this pitcher as your mind and
consider the stones filled in this pitcher as your thoughts. Now put more
stones in this pitcher. Time started putting more stones in the pitcher because
the house was already full.
After
throwing the stone, all the other stones started falling down, then the
Buddhist monk told him in time, wait, look carefully, now the stones are not
falling in the stand, rather the stones are falling down because this is the
one standing, the one who could have fallen in it, he did. Now no more stones
will come in it. If another stone is to be put, the first stone will have to
come out. Hearing this, the same person said, Master, I have understood what
you want to tell me. We should empty our mind of thoughts only. Chang. Hearing
this, the Buddhist monk started smiling and said, first listen to me in full.
After that, empty the mind. Then the Buddhist
monk said at the same time that our mind is exactly the opposite of a pitcher
because you can fill the pitcher with stones but you will not be able to fill
the mind with thoughts because the mind is always empty. Hearing this At the
same time he said, Master, I am not able to understand what you are saying. If
the mind remains empty then why do we want to empty it, then what is the need
to empty the mind. Then the Buddhist monk said to him that from this pot one-
Take out the stones one by one. Chang Naya did the same and kept taking out all
the stones from the pitcher one by one and while doing so, the pitcher finally
became empty.
Then
the Buddhist monk said at the same time, you see, when you took out the stones
one by one, this pot became empty, now you can put any stone in this pot, you
can put other stones or you can put the stones in them again. You can fill half
of it or you can fill it completely, then the young man says, Master, I am also
of the same age, I have to empty my mind, this is a stone which can be easily
taken out and the pitcher can be emptied. Can go but Master how do I empty my mind.
Then
the Buddhist monk said, put one stone in this pitcher and take out two stones.
Hearing this, he said at the same time, Master, how can this happen, when there
is one stone in this pitcher, only one stone will come out, then how will it
come out? Then the Buddhist monk told him, not so. If possible then do the
same, put a stone in this pitcher and take out four.
Chang
said, Maharaj, how can this happen, isn't this a miraculous house that if you
pour one, two will come out, if you pour two, four will come out, or after
listening, the Buddhist monk said, this pot is not miraculous but your mind is
miraculous. When you come out with one thought, two thoughts come with it and
when you read those two thoughts, four thoughts come with it and then by doing
this a long chain of thoughts is formed and then you do not stop anywhere. One
after another you go on reading thoughts, this earthen pot will be filled with
stones but your reason never fills, it is always empty but it does not empty,
it is the illusion of this mind that everything is there but still nothing,
then at the same time Said Master, I understand what you are saying but will I
always remain trapped in the web of my thoughts?
Is there no way for mind to get out of this
illusory trap? Then the Buddhist monk said, fill this earthen pot with half the
stones, then the same person did the same, then the Buddhist monk said, now
choose one of these stones and turn it into a stone. Make a small statue and give
it to me, I know you are a good artist. Chang took out a stone and started
longing for it in front of the Buddhist monk. While longing for the stone, he
felt that this stone was not good, then he took another stone. He took out the
stone from the pot but he did not like that stone either. Then he took out the
third stone but he did not like that third stone also. His penis was not good.
While doing this, the same time took out all the stones. While doing this, the
same time took out all the stones. Buddhist monks watching carefully.
Then
the Buddhist monk told him to show the stone which he had taken out first by
considering it as a star, after this you have no other stone and this is the
only stone with you, then at the same time, as Master said, look at the same
stone. He started longing for the stone and he made a very beautiful statue
from the stone and presented it to the Buddhist monk and said to the Buddhist
monk, Master, such a beautiful statue could be made from this stone, I could
not even imagine this. After listening to the young man, he Buddhist monk said
that when you have no other option then we put all our energy in that option
and make it the best and when we have many options then we do not even choose
the stone and make a statue. Not only this, our mind also keeps thousands of
options open for one thought and leaving one main thought, we remain entangled
in those thousands of useless thoughts. Then at the same time he said, Master,
I have understood your words very well, but what should i do now please guide
me
The
Buddhist monk said at the same time that emptying the mind and cleaning it is
not less than one, two, three, it is a very long process, so are you ready for
it? The young man said, Master, I am ready, no matter how long the process is.
The Buddhist monk said at the same time that there are six ways to keep a mind
away from empty circles. Let us understand them one by one. The first way is to
leave such people who make you feel weak, backward and aimless. Often such
people are around us. There are those who are above us in position and wealth
and in the pride of this position and wealth, they do not consider the people
below them as anything, that is why one should not live near such people and
such people always feel the same to the people lower than them. They tell you
how small you are and that's why small people can't achieve anything big in
their life.
Apart
from this, many times our friends and family members are also such who often
make us feel small, try to humiliate us, make fun of us in front of people, so
stay as far away from such people as possible. What happens is that by removing
your dignity from your eyes, they make you aimless and then you start doubting
your own abilities. You develop negative feelings towards yourself and these
negative thoughts lead you towards mental stress and anxiety. Then the Buddhist
monks tell another way and say that you should make your friends only very few
and selected people, make your friends only such people from whom you can learn
something, whom you can respect, who can understand your feelings and whose
thinking that matches yours.
Help
you move forward in life. After our parents, our friends have the biggest
contribution in our life and character. That is why it is very important to
have the right friends. It is also said that you are the reflection of those
five people whose If the five people around you with whom you spend the most
time are honest then you will also slowly start being honest and if those five
people are rich then you will also gradually become rich. will you start.
What I mean to say is that you become the kind
of people you spend your time with. Some great philosopher had said that if you
introduce me to any person's friends, I will see him as a human being. I will
tell you the future. Our biggest problem is that we are not able to say no to
people with whom we do not even like to be, and even though we do not want to,
we have to spend time with those negative people.
That
is why first of all we have to learn to say no to those people in our life with
whom we feel that they are spoiling our life. If they are not there in our life
then perhaps we will be more happy. Buddhist monks further say that the third
way is that You can never change your past, but you can change your future, so
you must live completely in the present and focus on the things that are within
your control, which you can do today, you can do now. Buddhist monk It is said
that always remember one thing, one can know the future only by living in the
present.
Develop a habit of living in the present instead of living in the past. The fourth way is to eat healthy and nutritious food. Our body runs on energy and the food we eat will give the same energy to our body. If our body is not healthy then how can we remain healthy? When the body is weak and sick, many negative thoughts come to the mind and a healthy mind resides in a healthy body, that is why it is our responsibility to keep the body healthy and strong. Buddhist monks say that the fifth way is to meditate daily. The best time to meditate is in the morning or at night before sleeping, but if you want to go deep into meditation then the best time is at night. Meditating before sleeping at night also improves sleep and makes it very deep. You feel sleepy. To meditate, you can concentrate on your breathing or you can also concentrate on the thoughts arising in your mind. By concentrating on the thoughts arising in your mind, meditators benefit more. Because it can easily lead to deep meditation.
If
you cannot meditate, then spend time alone with yourself every day. Understand
your own behavior. Try to see what kind of thoughts are arising in mind and
why they are arising. Buddhist monks further explain that there is a sixth way.
That you can go to visit new places because there is an old saying that a long
journey gives you knowledge equal to 100 books. Gautam Buddha was traveling
continuously for 9 months in his life. The reason for his traveling was to
discover new places. Along with gaining knowledge by going to a place, mind also
gets newness. Our mind
remains excited when we go to a new place. Then Buddhist monks say, never get
trapped in the trap of mind, do
not try to empty mind in
life. Learn to meditate, focus your attention, bring concentration in your
meditation and whatever you are doing in life, do it with full hard work
considering it as the end, do it in such a way that after that you do not have
to do anything else and then work on another idea. So just work on that and not
on any third thought. It is not so easy to get out of the illusion of mind but
everything can be achieved by meditating.
Friends, we hope that you must have learned something
valuable from today's story...
